Future Development is Del the Funky Homosapien’s third album and his first solo full-length for his independent label, Hieroglyphics Imperium Recordings. Originally released on cassette in 1997 and later reissued on CD and vinyl in 2002, it features in-house production by Del with contributions from A-Plus, Opio, and Toure, plus a guest appearance by Casual on “Checking Out The Rivalry.” Sonically it bridges the funk-heavy stylings of his debut with darker, futuristic textures from No Need for Alarm. Lyrically, Del refines rapid-fire wordplay with themes of life in Oakland, societal observations, and hip-hop culture. This Indies Only edition includes newly reimagined album artwork with metallic blue foil stamp printing.
